Job Description

Purpose of the role:

To conduct high voltage switching, skid transformer and switch gear repair and maintenance, dewatering/water management infrastructure operation, maintenance and repairs (inclusive of pumping and flocculation systems), workshop and other facilities repairs and maintenance, statutory checks and compliance. The scope includes Electrical HV and non-HV, as well as simple instrumentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of electricians to ensure outputs and KPI’s are achieved

• Ensuring that all maintenance is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, to ensure maximum reliability and uptime.

• Meeting set work targets for daily work group activities in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

• Achieving results through prioritizing activities, monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding self-accountable for the results.

• Motivate yourself and others in overcoming obstacles and achieving goals.

• Planning & assisting in laying out of work on new projects.

• Ensuring optimum plant availability at all times through a focus on preventative maintenance, completion of planned maintenance, and defect reporting/fault finding for prompt resolution.

• Maintain and repair basic non-HV devices: simple LV and MV electric and instrumentation equipment.

• A proven ability to work with other disciplines to achieve minimal disruption to plant operating times

• Any other task as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications & Experience

• Full Grade 12 Certificate

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

• HV switching Authorization

• Valid Zambian driver’s license

• Must be Computer Literate

• EIZ certificate

• 5 years, with 2 years at supervisory level

• Relevant experience in similar environment

• Knowledge of flocculant plant operation and maintenance is advantageous

Job Specific Competencies

• Proven experience with electrical preventative maintenance with a focus on HV power lines and trolley assist lines, unplanned repair & installation tasks on plant equipment.
