Role Summary
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will be responsible to lead and manage all Short Term Mine Planning activities, support and maintain all fleet management systems in order to safely deliver on the desired results in line with Barrick strategies and budget objectives
Responsibilities
Create the medium-term forecast mining plans, bench extraction sequences and budgets.
Monitor actual and design pits to ensure achievement of design criteria
Manage the engineering component of the Vulcan directory by ensuring designs are up to date and in advance of operations
Monitor explosives usage & ensure drilling & charging is adhered to according to plan
Provide reports on actual production and conduct physicals & spatial reconciliations by highlighting variances, recommend actions to correct variances outside of tolerance
Ensure that the mine planning group are providing the required level to mine operations and projects
Cascade plan and objectives through the team to ensure all activities are focused on agreed outcomes and reflected in the short-term mine plans.
Work with the coordinator and supervisor to achieve production and cost targets in conjunction with the daily, weekly and monthly mining plans that correspond with the annual production target and reforecast plans
Develop a high-performing team of accountable bench Engineers and Coordinators.
Ensure personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying at LMC
Ensure that environmental policies and strategies are incorporated into mining plans.
Management of special projects as required and ensure full optimization of dispatch system
Ensuring the completion and timing of daily, weekly and monthly plans
Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner
Experience & Qualifications
Degree in Mining Engineering
Member of Engineering Institution of Zambia
Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in mining environment
Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent with a demonstrated ability to lead a team.
Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, Microsoft Power BI experience and spreadsheet applications in the MS Office Suite.
High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Zambia.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
