Responsible for the Kansanshi process plant stabilisation, the improvement of productivity and plant recoveries, and the reduction in consumable costs through the implementation and maintenance of well-built advanced process control strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify process improvements and realisable opportunities via the implementation of process control philosophies.
• Support Operations in the troubleshooting of the operation to meet daily performance targets.
• Process modelling and data analysis to highlight where equipment is deviation from normal operation.
• Frequently audit and tune the performance of the site’s controllers and final control elements.
• Keep up-to-date documentation of the site’s control philosophy and manage the approval process for changes to philosophy.
• Ensure service level agreements and software licenses are kept up-to-date.
• Automate routine tasks and reports to free up work hours of the Operations team.
• Train and develop the team’s knowledge by transferring key skills in process control, advanced control strategies, analysis techniques, and the use of associated software.
• Keep up abreast of technological developments and bring such knowledge to site.
• Execute grade and recovery improvement projects.

Qualifications:

• Hold a degree in either Process Control engineering or Metallurgical/chemical engineering with relevant post graduate degree or relevant experience acceptable to become a member of the engineering institute of Zambia as per Act No.27 of 1992.
• Tertiary qualification in process control would be advantageous.

Experience:

• A minimum of 8 years of relevant process control experience in the minerals processing industry is required.
• Experience in the management of advanced process control projects through the stages of requirements gathering, system analysis, implementation, documentation, tuning, and continual controller performance review.
• Extensive experience addressing multivariable control problems and the utilization of feedforwards, gain scheduling, fuzzy, model predictive, and machine learning strategies to regulate such systems. control strategies to regulate such systems multivariable and feedforward control, fuzzy logic control, statistical process control, P&ID control, image analyses coupled with process control.
• Knowledge of G2 and Prime 5 advanced controller platforms is desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in management and leadership of team members is desirable.
• Understanding of SQL and Python for data interrogation.
