Job Description

Purpose

  • To specialise in interpreting laboratory analysis of lubricating oils, greases and insulating oils, whilst ensuring diagnostic results meet customer expectations and ISO standards.
  • Ensure continuous communication with clients via effective feedback system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake in depth analysis of lubricating oils and greases and the interpretation of results.
  • Undertake research and development work under the direction and guidance of the senior Tribologist.
  • Continuously review and support improvement efforts of maintenance intervention processes against identified machinery wear patterns.
  • Manage efforts to increase real-time visibility and access to machinery oil analysis status.
  • Develop management reports accord to client’s requirements.
  • Participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) meetings for failures associated with lubrication systems.
  • Assist maintenance teams with long term planning using oil analysis reporting tools.
  • Ensure customer/client turnaround times and agreed deadlines are met.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure the scope of analysis is clearly understood/documented and conduct oil analysis training for Clients.
  • Support Skills development of subordinates
  • Carry out duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Experience

  • 3 years’ work experience in oil laboratory set up or condition monitoring.
  • Demonstrable experience within the Mobile and Fixed plants specifically oils diagnostics
  • Proven experience in condition monitoring, testing and/or maintenance
