Job Description

PURPOSE

Support successful delivery of production through multiple operation projects in Drilling and Blasting and Implementation of quality control in all processes involved in Drilling and Blasting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Performance Areas

• Under limited supervision by the QAQC Coordinator, the Shift Boss will coordinate the drill and blast QAQC to achieve the daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
• Manage the Drill and Blast QAQC dipping team
• Weekly inspection of MMU calibration status
• Enforce usage of all available resources to deliver quality blasts for all downstream processes

Ensures production performance risks are minimized by eliminating SHEQ and asset risks

• Enforce compliance to company standard operating procedures and mining regulations
• Perform audits on Explosives contractor for VOD, Ground Vibration, Air over pressure and MMU certifications.
• Drive ‘THINK’ coach campaign within the section

Executes production according to plan with all quality and quantity targets met at a standard cost or better.

• Align resources allocation with daily production targets
• Encourage team participation in eliminating production problems.

Provide leadership to the team

• Provides coaching for direct subordinates to enable them to improve their performance.
• Boost team morale and enhance team building by ensuring that there is a shared value system in production that leads to high levels of commitment to the goals of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
• Certificate/Diploma in Mining Engineering or Equivalent
• Blasting License holder
• First Aid certificate holder
• Member of EIZ and Registered Member with ERB
• Valid Driver’s Licence – C1

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an open pit mining environment.
• Familiarity with the use of tools, fixtures and equipment for blasting aids
