Job Description

Job purpose

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company’s policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. She/he maintains close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel in order to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements. He/she reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Key responsibilities

1.  Supervise and direct quality assurance chemist/executives who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies in order to meet product quality standards.

2.  Review Production Batch Records and other manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activities.

3.  Responsible and experience to take out work from subordinates in water treatment plant, Beverage blending, Milk and Soya-milk quality control, pulping and sugar syrup preparation, additives and auxiliary chemicals testing.

4.  Monitoring and supervise the work of processing operator of UHT, water treatment plant, blending, sugar syrup preparation, milling and grinding and extraction.

5.  Audit quality control of raw materials, packaging components, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory standards.

6.  Follow up with implemented programs (GMPs, GLP, GHK, FSSC, HACCP, Allergen Control, Cleaning and Sanitation, Pest Control, Calibration, Organic Certification etc.) to ensure compliance by all employees and other personnel in the manufacturing facility.

7.  Assist in the coordination of testing results involving finished products, raw materials, and packaging components and the appropriate release and hold programs associated with these materials. Oversee the “On Hold” product program, including the status, release, and destruction of “Rejected” products.

8.  Make requisition of departmental requirement time to time.

9.  Assist in investigating and correcting quality-related issues (including customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.

10.  Make proactive recommendations and offering/presenting solutions to the Quality Systems to improve quality and work efficiency. Share knowledge, skills and information with other personnel in the Quality System

11.  Assist in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs which ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support in order to meet product quality standards.

12.  Participate in all regulatory, third party and customer audits and inspections, and corrective action response.

13.   Ensure good performance by quality assurance chemist/ executives by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.

14.  Maintain a fair and professional work environment that focuses the business objectives, but also balances quality of work-life factors for employees.

15.   Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings.

16.   Perform other duties as directed by the Quality Systems.

Key Qualifications & Requirements Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years, preferably in the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) industry preferably in Tetra Pak filling machines and dairy or beverage industry.
  • Education Level: Diploma/Degree certificate in science, microbiology, biochemistry, food science
  • Qualifications: Degree course in science, food, chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, Diploma and/or degree in Quality Management or relevant field
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office.
  • Good Command in English Language, Nyanja and Bemba
    Abilities: proven abilities of a quality supervisor background.
  • Personality: Self-motivated, Completing tasks on Time.
