Job Description

Project Summary

The project officer will work with other project staff on the CCC project for a period of 2 years to develop work plans, execute planned activities, and generally prioritize activities that engage key actors in promoting family based care for children separated from their families or at risk of separation. Further the project officer will provide support towards implementation of the Zambia Association of Sisterhoods Capacity Building Plan.

She/he will work with the project team to implement project activities and contribute to the Monitoring and Evaluation Accountability and learning processes.

The Project Officer will collaborate with the project team to explore and enhance linkages/ networks that maximize impact of the project in terms of improving the welfare of children by promoting positive and long-term family-based care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct project field visits in collaboration with CIF stakeholders as required
  • Provide timely and quality detailed field reports that will feedback into projects’ narrative reports
  • Assist in maintenance of a schedule of all upcoming and required CIF pilot activities to ensure project objectives are met within given time frames
  • Perform other functions as directed by his/her supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/degree in Social work, development studies, or any other relevant qualifications suitable for this position
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong English skills required.
  • Ability to work with database applications will be an added advantage
  • Experience working within partnerships i.e Ministry of Community Development and social services and other line ministries and stake holders
  • Comprehensive understanding reintegration processes and promotion of Family based care in Zambia

In addition to these general skills and personality traits, the project officer will have the following skills:
  • Thorough familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and project scheduling computer applications
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently,
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, trouble-shoot, and to meet short- and long-term deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in budget and basic finance management
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical and creative thinking and analytical skills
