Job Description

PURPOSE

To safely execute maintenance and construction of new concrete structures on the mine site in accordance to prescribed standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

• Read and interpret work plans and drawings required for the job
• Erect and dismantle formwork as per work specifications for all types of structures i.e. desk, beans, staircases, circular, straight or T and E walls
• Fabricate timber shuttering as and when required for the above mentioned structures
• Position the formwork and ensure it is ready for concrete pours
• Operate in accordance with safe working procedures
• Requests, store and control material
• Maintain the correct and safe usage of all hand tools within your section
• Report all defective tools as well as record and control all replacement of tools
• Any other duties as directed by the Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of a Grade 12 Certificate
• Certificate in Metal fabrication, Carpentry & joinery

EXPERIENCE

• Must have a Earthworks / Civil / Construction background (Roads, Bridges, etc)
• Experience with rail is advantageous
• Must have a relevant qualification
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a mining environment
• Experience in concrete, shuttering, scaffolding, formwork, concrete placing and concrete curing
