Job Description

Position: Education Cluster Cordinators – Catch Up Project x3 positions

Location: North Western Province

Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of the position is to coordinate activities and oversee activities for a cluster of districts in North Western province for the USAID Catch Up project. The incumbent will travel frequently to oversee and provide mentoring and coaching support to Ministry of Education (MoE) staff, capacitating them to run Catch Up in their districts.

Major Responsibilities:

Project development and Implementation

  • Ensure that project interventions are implemented in compliance with donor guidelines and regulations.
  • Facilitate the planning and implementation of Catch Up activities using recommended models, techniques, standards and tools to achieve output targets within scope, time, and budget.
  • Ensure project strategies are aligned with MoE at school/district levels for better programming

Capacity Building, People Management and Partnership

  • Facilitate training, coaching and mentoring of stakeholders (teachers, community volunteers) and other relevant stakeholders to ensure technical programme activities are effectively implemented.
  • Facilitate training of stakeholders on monitoring tools for effective reporting of project data

Programme Effectiveness and Quality Assurance

  • Track performance of targets in line with the Detailed Implementation Plans.
  • Support and conduct joint monitoring with MoE DEBS officials for effective implementation and quality control

 Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education (or similar) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in relevant field.
  • Experience as a Primary School Teacher will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge and experience of School based Teacher Professional Development
  • Excellent knowledge of the Zambian Education system – a must.
  • Good project management, community / stakeholder engagement, mobilization, facilitating and donor engagement skills
  • Experience and/or training in the Catch Up programme will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and report writing
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment, and must be a mature Christian.
