Job Description

Position: Development Facilitator- Livelihood & Thrive

Reporting to: Area Programme Manager

Location: Mwamba, Kasama

Purpose of the Position:

The incumbent will be responsible for engaging local leaders, local and communities to form Producer/Saving for transformation groups within the Area Programme area that assist to increase their incomes by undertaking lucrative business ventures; support producers organized in Commercial Producer Groups to meet buyers requirements and gain access to more lucrative sustainable markets and financial services

Major Responsibilities:

  • mobilizing, facilitating training and working with producers/participants to effectively participate in Savings for transformation groups and Commercial Producer Groups
  • facilitate Participatory Value Chains selection and Value Chain Analysis (VCA), Conduct Gross Margin Budgets (GMB) and Analysis for selected enterprises to inform production planning and marketing interventions
  • To facilitate identification of key local technical/business service providers(T/BSPs), local market players, opportunities and possible constraints, proposing formulation of innovative market access approaches/solutions and facilitate business linkages
  • Work with producers to form functional Producer groups and Savings for transformation groups in the Area Programme
  • Facilitate the planning and implementation of technical programme activities using recommended models, techniques, standards and tools to achieve output targets within scope, time, and budget
  • Identify products, quality and quantity of the outputs from local producers
  • Identify market development opportunities that present through networks and relationships with other institutions and organizations and NGOs working in the areas of Financial services, enterprise development and Market Access
  • Collaborate with Climate Smart Agriculture actors, local level stakeholders involved in the identified value chains in the EL&R technical program for effective programme implementation and sustainability.
  • Facilitate joint technical monitoring and reporting of the project for effective implementation and quality control.
  • Write and timely submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports for improved project effectiveness measurement and decision making.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma in Agricultural Sciences, agribusiness, Enterprise Development, with minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant field
  • Degree in Agricultural Sciences, agribusiness, Enterprise Development, Business Management or its equivalent is an added advantage with minimum 2 years’ experience in the relevant field
  • Experience in Program Management in a complex, international organization preferably NGO context
  • Knowledge and understanding of World Vision operations would be an added advantage,
  • Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and report writing essential
  • Must have excellent project management, community engagement, mobilization, facilitating and donor engagement skills
  • Must have Strong technical skills with practical experience in value chain development with a market facilitation lens, and community financing systems
  • Communications, interpersonal, analytical, conflict management, negotiation, and networking skills are highly desired
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment, and must be a mature Christian.
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Capacity to function well in a team and contribute effectively to team efforts.
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment, and must be a mature Christian.
