Position Description.

John Snow, Inc (JSI) seeks highly qualified and accomplished public health leaders and providers for the recently awarded United Sates Agency for International Development (USAID) / PEPFAR-funded Supporting an AIDS –Free Era (SAFE) Project in Zambia. The five year project which will be led by JSI in partnership with ABt Associates,mothers2mothers and the Catholic Medical Mission Board will work to reduce HIV mortality, morbidity and transmission, while improving nutrition outcomes and family planning integration in three provinces; Central, Copperbelt and North Western. USAID/PEPFAR SAFE will work with GRZ, private sector and civil society institutions at the national, provincial and district level to increase access to ART for HIV positive adults and children, reduce the incidence of new infections, improve nutritional assessment, Counseling and Services (NACS) and family planning services and increase the capacity of local health institutions to better serve affected populations.

Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to provide overall oversight on all COVID related data issues at the PCR Laboratory. The incumbent must demonstrate proficiency with sample registration on DISA and must ensure that samples received for COVID testing are prioritized according to date received and are communicated promptly. He/She must furthermore understand how DISA works and must be able to escalate any issues with the software to the software-providers.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties.

1. Register all COVID requests in DISA.

2. Receive and review sample transportation log at respective PCR Lab.

3. Optimize sample management by prioritizing swabs for testing using first in first out principle.

4. Ensure samples are referred to other PCR Labs when sample repositories reach maximum limit or there’s a lack of testing capacity.

5. Ensure COVID data is managed and reported according to MoH requirements.

6. Provide spreadsheets summarizing results for facilities upon request.

7. Collaborate with LIS Software providers when need arises.

8. Any other duties assigned.

Desirable Competencies:

  • Being able to work effectively with DISA will be a significant advantage.
  • Good data manipulation skills.
  • Good oral and documentation communication skills
  • Computer literate especially word, excel, power point.
  • Flexible, adaptable and ready to work in an ever changing environment.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Social Work, Development Studies, Information Technology or any related field.
