Job Description

Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to provide rapid diagnostic testing for COVID at designated district facilities in support of national testing activities. The incumbent will also facilitate access to COVID PCR testing when indicated and will ensure the necessary documentation is raised, samples are packaged appropriately and transported according to guidelines. He/She will ensure that PCR results are followed up promptly and communicated to clinical teams and are finally entered into nationally approved registers.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties.

Perform rapid diagnostic testing for COVID using MoH approved kits.
Report all results using nationally approved laboratory information systems.
Facilitate referral of samples for PCR testing including the raising of documentation, collection, packaging and transportation.
Ensure consistent availability of COVID test kits to prevent the disruption of testing services.
Collaborate with other COVID testing centres in the district.
Participate in the testing of external quality control materials and submission of results to the external assessing agency when applicable.
Provide technical support and mentorship to facilities served especially in but not restricted to specimen collection, packaging, storage, transportation and results management.
Ensure riders and other courier personnel are oriented on all the necessary safety procedures.
Regularly prepare written reports summarising monthly and quarterly activities.
Any other duties as assigned by Program Management.

Desirable Competencies:

  • Being able to work effectively with GRZ through MoH, PHO and DHOs and health facilities.
  • Good oral and documentation communication skills
  • Computer literate especially word, excel, power point.
  • Flexible, adaptable and ready to work in an ever changing environment.

Qualifications

  • BSc Biomedical Sciences with 3yrs experience
  • Diploma in Biomedical Sciences with 5yres experience.
