Job Description

Purpose

Provide timely, accurate and comprehensive cost accounting service to departments for the purpose of monitoring controlling and ascertaining costs so as to enable effective planning and control of costs within budget limits. Along with financial analytical support to the department’s management team.

Key Responsibilities

• The holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
• Prepare Departmental Annual Operation Budgets to provide a basis for adequate cost control and attainment of departmental objective.
• Prepare Departmental cost report by type of expense and process to highlight cost trends analysis. The report also shows materials consumption trend in quantities to enhance effective controls on stores.
• Prepare variance analysis, highlighting reasons for significant variances and suggest areas where savings can be made to assist departmental officials in affecting meaningful cost analysis.
• Prepare performance improvement plan reports and present them at the Departmental weekly meeting to assist the departmental officials map out cost saving measures on a weekly basis.
• Prepare and provide any other necessary information requested by management to assist management and departmental officials in decision making.
• Providing Operating Officials with Financial information to assist them make wise decisions faced with alternative course of action.
• Assist with financial benefits analysis on Capital expenditure applications, track spend on capital projects spend and help maintain asset register including analysis of timing of replacement.
• Expected to understand the business operation to enhance contribution towards value creation.
• Ascertainment, track, allocation, distribution and accounting for costs.
• Highlight on any cost saving initiatives and review with management.
• Provide Management and other KMP stakeholders with necessary adhoc reports to assist them in the valuation of KMP performance.

Qualifications

Diploma/Degree in Accounts & Business Studies, CIMA, ACCA or CA Zambia equivalent

Experience

Minimum of Three(3) years’ work experience
