Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager –Corporate Business, the Corporate Business Operations Manager will be responsible for planning, organising and mobilising staff and resources within the Corporate Business Department to ensure delivery of effective and professional services to group clients as per Service Level Agreements in force. The scope is from On-Boarding, claims to Contract Support

Main Duties/Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate training of CB Operations staff.
• Identify training needs through management of subordinates in liaison with HOD
• Set objective and performance indicators for the CB OPs staff.
• Evaluate workload for staff within the Operations space.
• Develop and implement assistance programs that cover CB Ops staff competencies and team cohesion.
• Conducts performance appraisal and disciplinary actions.
• Evaluate existing processes to be in line with systems regulatory, strategic and clients’ requirements.
• Develops and documents procedure manual for the department.
• Ensures statutory obligations are met
• Identify and analyse all major jobs (i.e. Compliance, Claims, Client/Broker Relationships, Invoicing, Commissions and Audits) and formulates strategies to achieve goals and standards. Review progress regularly and devise alternative plans to rectify any deviations
• Provide link between Senior Management and ensures CB Ops staff are kept abreast with changes within the business / industry which include company policy changes, implementation of changes in processes/ procedures resulting from changes in legislation and resolution of issues affecting the smooth operations of the department.
• Constantly and consistently vet all mail to identify complaints and take appropriate action to ensure their resolution and prevention of their recurrence. Assist Superior with the preparation and control of the Divisional Budget.
• Check Reassurance Computations and authorizes Reassurance Premium Remittances and claims recoupments.
• Ensures that tax obligations pertaining to Group Business are accurately computed and remitted to Finance on or before the due date.
• Responsible for handling both internal and external audits.
• Ensure monthly data for all schemes are timeously balanced and updated accurately on the annuity administration system.
• Check the validity of all Internal Control Reconciliations
• Check payment in respect of Annuity payroll and claims and ensure that they are processed with due regard to laws, rules & policy.

• Any other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications and experience

•  Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
•  Degree in Business Administration, Post Graduate Insurance Sales and Marketing or related discipline
• At least 5 years relevant working experience in a Supervisory or Management Role in Insurance and Accounting Environments
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point programmes.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and ability to work under pressure.
• Adaptable to working in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
• Flexibility in resolving issues and addressing changing priorities
