Job Description

The University seeks to recruit a suitably qualified individual for the position of Computer Lab Assistant.

Responsibilities;

• Troubleshooting software including Operating Systems and hardware problems for computers in the Computer Lab, printers and projectors.
• Installation of operating systems and software maintenance in the computer lab,
• Setting up and configuring N Computing, desktops, peripherals and users assigning security levels , Virtualization software like VMWare;
• Assist LMS Coordinator  to Manage LMS in developing, designing and monitoring course contents for an E-learning platform in Moodle, and ensuring processes are completed within given time frames;
• Assist LMS Coordinator to ensure that students are registered in appropriate classes in LMS;
• Assist in Conducting student Orientation in LMS (Moodle) for on-campus, distance, and online students;
• Providing support in the event of software failure.
• Providing support services to users of University computer hardware and software;
• Maintain all lab computers as well as performing software upgrade and updates;
• Assist in Developing security management that limits access to computer lab to only authorized personnel using Active Directory;

Technical Competencies;

• Networking- Network Configuration and troubleshooting;
• Proficient in the following programming languages: Java, C,C++, SQL, Java Script, HTML and XML,PHP;
• Database Management Systems and Administration (Rational Database Management systems (RDMS), Object-Oriented Database Management systems OODMS);
• Hardware – Desktop, Laptop and Printer repair, Maintenance, and Configuration;
• Operating Systems (Microsoft windows Family OS, and Linux Systems);
• Strong understanding of professional software development, and software optimization;
• Methods, and Facilities for Computer Information Protection;

Educational Qualification;

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. Masters Degree an added advantage.
