Position Overview: As a Boiler Operator, you'll be a key contributor the production team, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of boiler systems to support brewing and beverage production processes. The Boiler Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining boiler systems within our beverage and brewing facilities. This role involves monitoring boiler performance, conducting routine maintenance tasks, and adhering to safety protocols to ensure continuous steam supply for production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Boiler Operation:
    • Operate and control boiler systems to generate steam for heating, processing, and sterilization purposes in accordance with production schedules and requirements.
    • Monitor boiler parameters, including pressure, temperature, fuel consumption, and water levels, to ensure optimal efficiency and safety.
    • Adjust boiler controls as needed to maintain proper steam production and distribution throughout the facility.
  2. Maintenance and Inspection:
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks on boiler equipment, such as cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs, to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
    • Conduct regular inspections of boiler components, including valves, gauges, and safety devices, to identify and address any issues or potential hazards.
    • Coordinate with maintenance technicians or external service providers for more extensive repairs or upgrades as necessary.
  3. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safe operation of boiler systems and compliance with regulatory standards, including OSHA and boiler code requirements.
    • Conduct safety checks and inspections of boiler equipment to identify and mitigate potential hazards or safety risks.
    • Maintain accurate records of boiler operation, maintenance activities, and safety inspections to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Troubleshooting and Emergency Response:
    • Troubleshoot boiler malfunctions or operational issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
    • Respond promptly to boiler-related emergencies, such as equipment failures or pressure deviations, to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and property.
    • Implement emergency shutdown procedures and coordinate with appropriate personnel to address critical issues and restore normal operations.
  5. Training and Documentation:
    • Provide training and guidance to other staff members on boiler operation, safety procedures, and emergency protocols to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and safety procedures, including logbooks, manuals, and operating instructions.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Electrical or equivalent required; technical training or certification in boiler operation preferred.
  • 3 year or more experience desired in operating and maintaining boiler systems in an industrial setting, preferably within the beverage, brewing, or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of boiler principles, including combustion, steam generation, and pressure control.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for boiler operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform minor repairs on boiler equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
