Purpose of Role

The position exists to assist the Shift & Area Supervisor’s with blasting resources, materials and work processes employed on Kalumbila Mine. The role also provides technical guidance to employees on Blasting- related matters in order to ensure that the planned blasting works are completed on schedule, within budget and as per quality and safety standards.

Specific Job Responsibility

The role holder will be responsible for;

• Maintaining oversight over all day-to-day blasting works on the block.
• Ensuring QAQC on bench/charging /density of cups.
• Ensuring compliance during sleeving and charging activities
• In charge of bench barricading, clearness of Cones, Blast Boards and accountable for non-compliance issues.
• Capturing and tracking all statistics and data requirements on prescribed forms (i.e. dip- sheets, marked plans).
• To ensure overall on-bench House Keeping.
• To perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 year of experience in a Mining Environment
• Must have prior blasting experience
• Prior experience in an open pit setup is an added advantage​
• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• Tertiary qualification in a Mining related field will be an added advantage
• Blasting Licence
• Electronic initiating systems certificate.
• Must be computer literate
• Drivers Licence

• Experience and knowledge in applicable Sleeving Methods
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Axxis Electronics
• Must possess knowledge of working with Xplo loggers
