Job Description

ACCOUNTANT

An established and growing bakery is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to manage financial records, support daily operations, and ensure accurate reporting in a fast-paced food production and retail environment.

Job Purpose

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing daily sales reconciliations, managing supplier payments, and supporting cost control to ensure the smooth financial operation of the bakery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and reconcile daily bakery sales from cash, mobile money, and POS systems
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for management
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier invoices and customer accounts
  • Monitor bakery expenses and support cost control measures
  • Assist with stock costing, ingredient usage tracking, and wastage reporting
  • Prepare and process payroll inputs and staff-related payments
  • Maintain accurate filing of invoices, receipts, delivery notes, and financial documents
  • Perform bank deposits and basic bank reconciliations
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company procedures, and basic statutory requirements

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in an accounting role (bakery, restaurant, or hospitality experience is an advantage)
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial controls
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
  • Experience handling POS sales data and cash reconciliations
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and meet reporting deadlines
